The family branch holds neighbouring hues — the same color shifted a little around the wheel. The variants branch is the brightness ladder: two steps darker, the original, two steps lighter, with adaptive steps so very dark or very light colors still produce distinct results. The harmony branch contains the classic relationships: the complementary opposite, the two triadic partners 120° away, and the two analogous neighbours at ±30°.
